Connecting Scholars, Creating Synergies

The Expert Search brings together the collective knowledge and scholarly excellence of the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence and the Institute of African Studies at the University of Bayreuth. As internationally renowned centres for innovative, interdisciplinary African Studies, these institutions comprise a diverse community of researchers whose work spans the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, law, economics, and the arts.

Hosted by the Institute of African Studies at the University of Bayreuth, developed by the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence, and funded by the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), this platform offers a comprehensive overview of the considerable expertise represented within our network. It showcases scholars whose research engages dynamically with African knowledge systems, global interconnections, and the multiple ways Africa shapes — and is shaped by — the world.

By connecting researchers across disciplines and regions, the Expert Search opens up new possibilities for synergies and intellectual "synapses" within the global African Studies community. It enables users to identify potential partners for academic collaboration, joint projects, and innovative knowledge exchange.

By highlighting the vibrant intellectual landscape of African Studies at the University of Bayreuth and its affiliation, this resource aims to foster visibility, cooperation, and new pathways of scholarly engagement — both within academia and beyond.
